Writers Academy Conference is ready to welcome all writers, authors, poets, content creators, and word wizards. Let’s fall in love with language again.
Writers Academy (formerly known as Book Academy) is an opportunity to network with fellow writers and take your writing to the next level! This month-long, once-a-week conference aims to assist writers and teachers to improve their skills, explore possibilities, and discover resources for writing.
This year, Writers Academy offers a robust schedule of workshops, one-on-one reviews, writing contest, presentations, an excellent keynote speaker, and pitching opportunities for an overall entertaining and satisfying experience.
New Online Format & Schedule
Improve your writing while wearing stretchy pants. For the safety of our attendees and presenters, Writers Academy will be entirely online this year.
Oct. 9th, Friday:Writers Academy Kickoff, Writing Contest Announcement, Featured Keynote Speaker, and 3 Workshop Presentations
Oct. 15th - Nov. 5th, Thursdays: 4 Workshop Presentations between 6 - 8 pm
Nov. 6th, Friday: Closing Meeting, Final 2 Speakers & Awards Show

All presentations will be recorded and made available to attendees, so even if you miss one or register mid-conference, you still get it all! Watch them again and again if you like. Register for the conference at anytime between October 9 and November 6.
Flash Fiction Contest
The FIRST EVER Writers Academy Flash Fiction Writing Contest is a chance for attendees to write a short 1,000 word piece to win prizes such as free manuscript reviews, consultations and more! It's super simple.
1. Register for Writers Academy.
2. Tune into the kickoff event where the topic will be announced along with more instructions.
3. Write a 1,000 word or less piece.
4. Submit your piece (following the instructions provided).
5. Wait for the judges to determine the fate of your fiction.
There will be two elimination rounds and a new piece will be required for those who proceed. Finalists will be announced at the Writers Academy Awards event on Friday, November 6.
Every conference attendee receives 1 entry into the contest!
Manuscript Review Partner: Eschler Editing
For those who register for Manuscript Reviews, Eschler Editing will review the first chapter of your work in progress, query, or synopsis. The editor will read the material and provide an informative critique, which will be emailed to you by the editor within a month of the conference conclusion (December 6, 2020). After reviewing the feedback, the author can email their editor if they have any follow-up questions; additionally, they can request a 15-20 minute phone or screen call with their editor to discuss the chapter, ask questions, and receive further feedback from Eschler Editing’s award-winning team. Please register and submit your materials by the end of Writers Academy on November 6.
