The UVU College of Humanities and Social Sciences, Veteran Success Center, Student Health Center Crisis Services, Volunteer and Service Learning and UVU Student Life – in conjunction with their state and local sponsors, are pleased to present the 2019 UVU Conference on Domestic Violence (Interpersonal/Dating/Intimate Partner). This single-day event is scheduled for Tuesday, April 16, 2019 - in the Sorensen Student Center
on UVU campus.
While still in the planning stages, the conference will feature an opening Keynote presentation from Audrey Prosper. In 2009, Audrey nearly lost her life after being sexually assaulted, brutally beaten with a hammer, and ultimately set on fire by her estranged husband. Since then Audrey made the decision to use her voice for good by speaking out and sharing the invaluable lessons she’s learned about how to thrive after violence and abuse. We are also excited to welcome Ashlee Martlage from the University of Texas, Austin as our afternoon plenary session presenter.
In addition, the conference will feature several concurrent sessions dealing with the topic of domestic (interpersonal, dating, intimate partner) violence, and its far-reaching impact on individuals and the community at large. The program is intended to meet the interests/needs of students, professionals, service providers and community members.
Based upon previous experience, we anticipate welcoming approximately 400 participants from the community. These participants will be joined by approximately 100 UVU students who have interest in the topic and are seeking more information.
